This leads to a variety of symptoms including ocular (eyeball) irritation, red eye, pain, infections and tearing. It may be present at birth or acquired after trauma, cancer, other growths, inflammation or may occur with age (most common). Surgical correction is usually simple and quick. In rare cases, surgery can be more complex.<\/p><p>Entropion is a defect in which the eyelid margin turns inwards. This causes the eyelashes to rub against the eye, leading to similar symptoms to ectropion (red eye, pain, infections and tearing). However, in this case the symptoms are typically more severe and disabling. The causes of entropion are similar to those of ectropion and surgical correction is usually minimally invasive.
